An API is a contract between systems and the people operating them. We start with the business action, allowed inputs, expected outputs and failure behavior.
Define the context
Specify data ownership, authentication, validation and versioning. Agree what the consumer can rely on, including limits and conditions that require review.
Make failures understandable
Use meaningful status responses, traceable request identifiers and a safe recovery path. Test duplicates, missing information and downstream unavailability.
Connect a bounded AI task
Provide only approved context, return an inspectable response and preserve human review where required. Evaluate the workflow using representative examples.
